Winds and drifting snow shut down highways Monday

road-closed-2

Heavy winds and drifting snow led to the closure of several highways in the region yesterday (Mon).

U.S. Highway 95 was closed due to the conditions from Grangeville to Cottonwood due to the gusty conditions that created drifting snow and low visibility.

Other Camas Prairie routes that were closed Monday included State Highway 64 east of Nezperce, between Payne Drive and Tramway Road; State Highway 162, between Red Rock Road and its intersection with State Highway 7 near Greencreek; the Johnston Cutoff Road; and Tolo Lake Road near Grangeville.

Conditions were similar for travelers in southeastern Washington, where State Route 272, from near Colfax to the Idaho state line; and State Route 194, from near Almota Road to U.S. Highway 195, were closed into the evening Monday.

All highways have re-opened today with the exception of Idaho State Highway 64 four miles east of Nezperce.
