The Idaho Falls Bandits came up just short of making history in a 6-5 loss to Troy, Alabama yesterday (Tue) in the championship game of the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina.
The Bandits jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, scoring all five runs in the second inning.
Troy scored 3 in the 3rd to tighten things up, and the game remained that way until the top of the 7th when Troy scored 3 to take the lead and held on for the program’s first title in 55 years.
Idaho Falls finished the year with a 60-7 record and a runner-up finish after winning back-to-back titles in the last two world series played.
