LAPWAI, ID – The Nez Perce Tribe says school threats made via social media late last night has forced an emergency closure for the Lapwai schools, Tribal offices, Housing Authority, and Nimiipuu Health today. The Kamiah offices and clinic will remain open.
“The Nez Perce Tribal Police Department has been actively investigating throughout the night and the details of the individuals involved are believed to be known. The NPTPD is working to provide answers to questions the community may have,” a press release states.
“Your patience is appreciated as the NPTPD works to ensure the community’s safety. They will provide updates when appropriate so as not to disrupt the investigation,” officials add.
This is believed to be an isolated incident; therefore, it is not a complete lockdown but a precaution. More information will be released as needed.
