STARBUCK, WA – Officials at Little Goose Lock and Dam are closing dam crossings to the public until further notice due to electrical problems with the upstream bascule bridge. An electrical burnout in the switchgear of the upstream bascule bridge has made it inoperable.
“The bridge allows vehicles to drive across the dam, however it must be raised to allow barge traffic to access the navigation lock. For barge traffic to continue, the bridge will be raised manually and will remain raised until the electrical issues can be resolved. However, this means dam crossing will not be possible until the bridge is fully functional,” a press release states.
Normal crossing hours are once an hour, on the half-hour, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Public dam crossings are also available at Lower Granite Lock and Dam and Lower Monumental Lock and Dam.
