CLARKSTON, WA – Two people escaped serious injury in a Clarkston Heights house fire this morning. Asotin County Fire District #1 fire and rescue crews were dispatched to the fire in the 2500 block of Appleside Blvd. just after 7:00 a.m. Initial reports said people were possibly trapped inside.
Lewiston Fire Crews and a Clearwater Paper rehab crew also responded through the Lewis-Clark Valley auto-aid program.
“Asotin City Police Chief Monte Renzelman was just down the street when the call for help was dispatched,” ACFD1 Chief Noel Hardin says in a press release.
“Renzelman relayed to rescue crews that both of the people in the house had got out. Ambulance crews checked the residents for minor burns. They did not seek any further medical attention.”
Hardin says this morning’s cold temperatures created challenges for firefighters.
“They have to take precautions for freezing water lines and water freezing on the ground makes it tough for walking around the scene,” Hardin says.
The home suffered significant damage and there were no other reported injuries. American Red Cross officials were contacted to assist the residents who lived in the home.
