Trial Date Set for Lewiston Man Facing Manslaughter Charges

The trial for a Lewiston man charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter is scheduled to take place in May.

43-year-old William Clements was also charged with felony aggravated DUI in October following a vehicular crash that killed 67-year-old Kim Thompsen of Syracuse, Utah, and 40-year-old Troy Thompsen of Meridian, Idaho.

According to the Lewiston Tribune, the date for the trial is set for May 1st with pretrial hearings set between March 9th and April 20th.

Clements faces a maximum of 15 years for each charge, as well as a possible penalty up to $15,000 for vehicular manslaughter and as much as $5,000 for aggravated DUI. He was also charged with two misdemeanors, possession of an open container and carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence.

The Nez Perce County Prosecutor’s Office and Clements’ defense attorney are also in the process of negotiating a potential mediated resolution to the case.
