LEWISTON, ID – The Idaho Lottery’s annual public school fundraiser, Scratch for Schools, took place today at Lewis-Clark State College. A total of 36 schools from throughout the Greater Clearwater Valley region participated in the 22nd edition of the regional competition; statewide, the Lottery hosted 10 events with more than 450 schools registered to compete in the five-minute fundraiser to compete for the title of fastest scratching school and win cash for their classroom or school needs like playground equipment, books for their library, or computer learning software.
Fastest scratching school was Timberline High School from Weippe with 192 tickets scratched in the five-minute round.
Kamiah Middle School and Genesee High School were the big winners – each claiming $765.
Total prize amounts awarded today: $12,429.
Each participating school received an entire pack of Scratch Tickets and five minutes to scratch as many tickets as possible. The fastest scratching schools won additional prizes and advanced to a final round. About 120 administrators, teachers, PTO members, and staff members simultaneously scratched thousands of Lottery tickets for their schools. Participants attending the event showed their school spirit and wore fun costumes. It was a high-energy, visual event.
Since its inception, Scratch for Schools has returned over $1.5 million to benefit public education in Idaho.
