GRANGEVILLE, ID – The remains of a 71-year-old Kamiah man who was reported missing on July 30, 2022 were discovered by hikers in the Woodland area. According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Randy Jackson’s body was found in his green Suburban down a steep ravine on Tuesday.
“Numerous ground searches were performed looking for Mr. Jackson in the months following his disappearance. Idaho County personnel launched the drone this winter to do an aerial search when the foliage was less and visibility was better,” the Sheriff’s Office says. “Idaho County Deputies have confirmed this was the vehicle belonging to Mr. Jackson and subsequently his remains.”
Idaho County detectives are continuing their investigation, but at this time no foul play is suspected.
Jackson’s family has been notified.
“We are saddened by their loss, but hope this brings them peace during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them,” the press release adds. “Sheriff Ulmer would also like to thank everyone who helped search for Mr. Jackson.”
