Two Moscow businesses were temporarily evacuated yesterday (Wed) because of a bomb threat.

According to Moscow Police, authorities were notified just before noon that someone called Marshalls and made the threat as part of an extortion attempt.

The Lewiston Tribune reports, the suspect allegedly called the store manager and said they wanted gift cards or else they would set off a bomb in the store. The caller later backtracked and said there was no bomb but that they could put one in the store.

The Moscow Police Department and Moscow Volunteer Fire Department responded and evacuated Marshalls and the neighboring Petco store.

A subsequent search found no threat, and the stores were allowed to resume business.

Police reportedly attained the phone number of the suspect who made the threat and are working to get search warrants.
