LEWISTON, ID – Never count the Warriors out. Though LC State is the No. 4 seed in the Lewiston bracket this season, Warrior Baseball will look to battle its way to a spot in the Avista NAIA World Series. LC State hosts the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round, presented by Avista, starting Monday against No. 10 Hope International (Calif.).
HIU, No. 21 Science & Arts (Okla.), (RV) Concordia (Mich.) and (RV) LC State make up the field in this year’s Opening Round bracket at Harris Field. USAO and CUAA play the first game on Monday at 12:30 p.m., with HIU and LC State following at 4 p.m.
All games will be broadcasted on the Warrior Sports Network and KOZE. Streaming passes, as well as single-day and tournament passes, are on sale on the Tournament Central page.
No. 10 HOPE INTERNATIONAL (CALIF.) – No. 1 Seed
The Royals are the top seed after earning an at-large bid out of the Golden State Athletic Conference. HIU fell to No. 6 Westmont in the GSAC title game but head into Lewiston with an impressive 33-9 season record. Hope International won the regular season series with Westmont 3-1 and did the same against nationally-ranked Vanguard.
HIU had both the GSAC Pitcher of the Year, Hector Garcia, and Player of the Year, Maxfield Jung-Goldberg to lead the squad. Omar Veloz, David Rivera, Robert Mattei, Matthew Oinal and Connor Martin also earned all-conference honors.
No. 21 SCIENCE & ARTS (OKLA.) – No. 2 Seed
The Drovers earned an at-large bid out of the Sooner Athletic Conference and head to Lewiston with a record of 34-18. USAO holds a record of 8-6 against teams ranked or receiving votes in the final NAIA poll.
Peyton McDowall and Christopher Martinez earned first-team all-conference honors to lead the Drovers in postseason awards, while Ben Lawson, Gage Gaunt, Antonio Hrynkiw, Reed Butz and Josh Harrel earned second-team honors.
(RV) CONCORDIA (MICH.) – No. 3 Seed
The Cardinals are the only team in the Lewiston bracket to earn an automatic bid as a conference champion. CUAA won the regular-season title in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and was the runner-up in the WHAC tournament.
Drew Fleming was voted the WHAC Player and Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Wright State. Tyson Kleinfelter was named the conference Pitcher of the Year and coach Zach Johnston was voted Coach of the Year. Timothy Pomaville, Jordan Sherman and Jarrett Batanian also earned first-team all-conference honors, and Jimmy Wressel, Kyle Hebner and Evan Jasiak were named to the second team.
(RV) LC STATE (IDAHO) – No. 4
In what has been an uncharacteristic season for the Warriors, LC heads into the tournament just outside the top 25. LC State finished third in the Cascade Conference tournament after defeating Oregon Tech 14-2, then falling to (RV) UBC and in rematch with OIT.
The Warriors lead the CCC with seven all-conference selections: Dominic Signorelli, Nick Seamons, Carter Booth, Dallas McGil, Greg Blackman, Sam Olsson and Isaiah Thomas.
