Two women are facing first-degree theft charges in Asotin County for allegedly obtaining cash and food assistance from the Washington Department of Social and Health Services.
According to court documents, 44-year-old Jennie Mechling also known as Jennie Gross, is accused of accepting more than $12,300 in overpayments. Mechling, of Clarkston, reportedly provided false information to DSHS when applying for assistance.
Meanwhile, 43-year-old Lisa Platz, also known as Lisa Pemberton and Lisa Hudson, allegedly failed to report her out-of-state residency, which resulted in an overpayment of over $13,000. She reportedly listed herself as homeless in Pomeroy and Clarkston while residing in Peck, Idaho.
Both cases stem from payments issued between Aug. 1, 2016 and April, 30, 2018.
