Investigators of the crash that killed four family members Saturday along the Salmon River believe the driver fell asleep.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office released the report this week. The accident happened at about 1 p.m. Saturday at milepost 199 on U.S. Highway 95, about 3 miles north of Riggins.
36-year-old Calvin Miller, 17-year-old Dakota Miller, 10-year-old Jack Miller, 8-year-old Delihia Miller, all of Spokane, died in the crash.
Investigators say Dakota Miller was at the wheel of the vehicle when she fell asleep. The vehicle then struck a rock pile, sending the car airborne before colliding with more rocks, flipping the vehicle upside down as it landed in the river.
All four occupants, who were all wearing seatbelts in the vehicle, perished.
