CLARKSTON, WA – A 36-year-old Clarkston man was arrested and booked into the Asotin County Jail yesterday afternoon on an out-of-county warrant for failure to appear on three counts of 1st-Degree Rape of a Child and one count of 1st-Degree Child Molestation. Joel J. Babino has since made an appearance in Garfield County Court in Pomeroy and was released on bail according to court officials.
A Probable Cause Affidavit says on three different occasions, Babino allegedly inappropriately touched a girl under the age of eight in mid-August of last year while staying at a Garfield County cabin.
The document says the girl underwent a juvenile sexual assault interview and reportedly told an investigator that Babino touched her while she was in the living room during the day, then later while taking a nap, and then that night while she was sleeping next to her mother.
