One man was killed when a plane crashed near Big Creek on the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness Sunday.
The Valley County Sheriff’s Office says Forest Service personnel and LifeFlight crews found 78-year-old Jonathan Van Cleave of Midland, Texas dead. He was the only occupant of the plane.
Because of the remote location, Valley County Sheriff’s deputies were lowered to the crash site by helicopter to recover the body.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating what caused the crash.
