Man Arrested on 2nd-Degree Murder Charge in St. Maries

ST. MARIES, ID – A 21-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with an altercation early Saturday morning that left one man dead and a woman with critical injuries. The Benewah County Sheriff’s Office says dispatchers received numerous reports of gunshots at around 3:00 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 100 block of North 17th Street in St. Maries.

Benewah County Sheriff’s Deputies and the St Maries Police Department responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, law enforcement found two victims. A 30-year-old male was pronounced deceased on the scene. The other victim, a 59-year-old female, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries,” Sheriff Anthony Eells says.
“The suspect, 21-year-old, Jacob Anderson, was still on scene and immediately detained. He was transported to the Benewah County Jail without further incident,” Eells says.
Anderson is currently booked under 2nd-Degree Murder charges. Further charges are expected following the investigation, with the assistance of Idaho State Police.
