LEWISTON, ID – An active shooter training exercise will take place on the Lewis-Clark State College Campus next month. City of Lewiston and Nez Perce County’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Mark Hurd, will be hosting the drill on the Lewiston campus on Friday, September 15th. The exercise aims to simulate the emergency response to an active shooter incident on campus, ensuring a coordinated, timely, and effective response and recovery in the event of a major incident.

“The training exercise is a collaborative effort involving various public agencies, including the City of Lewiston Police Department, Fire Department, Public Information Office, and Risk Management Office; Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner; City of Clarkston Police Department and Fire Department; Idaho State Police; Lewis-Clark State College administration and staff; St. Joseph Regional Medical Center administration and staff; Tri-State Memorial Hospital administration and staff; Idaho Office of Emergency Management, and Idaho Public Health North Central District,” a press release states.

From the City of Lewiston:

In preparation for the exercise, a second press release with more information will be distributed in the weeks leading up to the event. Additionally, public information materials will be shared with neighbors in the exercise area, students, and staff. There will be a heavy presence of law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services during the exercise, so it is essential to emphasize that the event is just a drill to avoid any confusion. The exercise area will be closed to the general public.
