LEWISTON, ID – The Lewiston City Council will soon be making an appointment for the position of City Clerk. At a meeting on Monday, August 28th, the Lewiston City Council will meet for its regularly scheduled meeting. Mayor Daniel Johnson will be making the appointment of Tanya Brocke to the position of City Clerk.
“Tanya is currently working toward becoming a Certified Municipal Clerk. She has nine years of office administration, executive assistant, and grant management experience, in addition to bookkeeping and municipal clerk experience. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Science in Applied Technology, an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Bookkeeping, and an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Paraprofessional Education. As a native of the area, Tanya obtained these degrees from Lewis-Clark State College,” a press release says.

“Tanya is proficient in all areas required of the City Clerk position,” Mayor Daniel Johnson said. “I have absolute confidence that she will bring a high level of professionalism to the City Clerk’s Office, Mayor’s Office, and the entire organization.”
The City Council will consider a resolution confirming the appointment of Tanya Brocke as City Clerk. If the Council approves the resolution, Tanya’s effective start date as City Clerk will be September 1, 2023.
The position of City Clerk is responsible for keeping a correct journal of the proceedings of the Council and shall have custody of all laws and ordinances of the City. This position may administer oaths and shall also perform such other duties as may be required by ordinance. The City Clerk also handles the City’s public record requests, among other executive assistant duties as assigned.
Per Idaho Code § 50-204 and Lewiston City Code § 2-31, all appointive officers, which include the City Clerk, City Treasurer, and City Attorney, shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
