LEWISTON, ID – The City of Lewiston has terminated the Local Disaster Emergency that was issued by Mayor Dan Johnson on June 14th due to flash flooding. On June 9th, a 50-year event happened as a result of a severe thunderstorm that dumped a half inch of rain in less than 10 minutes.

Localized flooding during and after the flood event severely damaged roads and public infrastructure, as well as depositing excessive amounts of debris on roadways and in a majority of the City’s drainage systems, resulting in multiple roads being closed and a Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency to be issued.

The Lewiston City Council passed a resolution on June 21st consenting to the continuance of the declaration.

At this time, the City has completed the cleanup and repairs to damaged roads and infrastructure, resulting in the discontinuation of the declaration.
