Clarkston Structure Fire Claims Life of Disabled Man

CLARKSTON, WA – Asotin County Fire District #1 and Asotin County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a reported structure fire at around 9:45 p.m. last night on Bridger Lane in Asotin County. Upon arrival, deputies were able to extinguish a fire on the front porch and found a deceased subject just inside the front door of the residence. There were no other occupants in the home.

Firefighters from Asotin County Fire District #1 and Lewiston Fire Department entered the home and extinguished the remaining fire.
Initial investigation revealed that 54-year-old Joseph S. Sarbacher was disabled and succumbed to smoke and fire in the residence. Fire investigators from Lewiston Fire Department are aiding in the cause and origin of the fire.
The next of kin have been notified and Asotin County Deputies are continuing the investigation. If you have any information regarding this fire please contact the Sheriff’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
