WEST RICHLAND, WA – UPDATE at 4:09 p.m.:
“At approximately 3pm on Tuesday, April 23rd, the Oregon State Patrol located the subject vehicle driving southbound on Interstate 5, near Eugene, Oregon, and initiated a pursuit. The pursuit ended with OSP reporting that the suspect sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, with his current condition unknown. The 1-year-old child, Roman Santos, was taken safely into custody by OSP troopers,” the West Richland Police Department says on its Facebook page.
UPDATE: The Washington State Patrol says the Amber Alert issued last night has been canceled. Eliaas Huizar has been located. No further information was released as of 3:54 p.m.
WEST RICHLAND, WA – Law enforcement agencies are asking for the public’s help in finding a 39-year-old man who they say kidnapped a one-year-old child. Officials say Elias Huizar allegedly murdered his ex-wife and girlfriend.
This is believed to be connected with the shooting outside of Wiley Elementary School earlier in the day.
After law enforcement officers served a search warrant at Huizar’s home this evening, they discovered an additional crime scene, where a second homicide victim was found.
Officials say Elias Huizar is believed to be traveling to Mexico in a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington State license plate #CBZ4745.
The child, described as having brown hair and brown eyes, reportedly became missing at approximately 5:00 p.m. this afternoon, the Washington State Patrol says.
Huizar is described as 5’6″ and 170 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.
The agency, on behalf of the West Richland (WA) Police Department, has activated this Amber Alert.
