The Avista NAIA World Series got underway Friday at Lewis-Clark State’s College’s Harris Field.
All four lower seeds picked up day one wins.
#9 seed Arizona Christian defeated #8 seed Kansas Wesleyan 17-10 in Game One.
#5 seed Reinhardt of Georgia scored a comeback 7-5 win over #4 seed Hope International of California in Game Two.
#6 seed Tennessee Wesleyan upset #3 seed Cumberlands of Kentucky 7-4 in Game Three.
#10 seed Indiana Southeast held off #7 seed William Carey of Mississippi 6-5 in Game Four.
Four more games are scheduled for Saturday at Harris Field. At 8:35 a.m. Hope International will battle Kansas Wesleyan in an elimination game. At 11:35 a.m. Cumberlands plays William Carey.
In the winner’s bracket: #1 seed Southeastern of Florida will make it’s series debut against Arizona Christian at 3:05 p.m., while #2 seed Georgia Gwinnett will open tournament play at 6:35 p.m. against Indiana Southeast.
