The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and several partner groups will be celebrating Free Fishing Day this Saturday, June 8 at locations near Grangeville, Pierce, and Lowell.

Idaho Free Fishing Day is an annual event held the second Saturday in June to encourage all people—novice and expert alike—to celebrate the joy of fishing. All anglers, residents and nonresidents, can celebrate the day by fishing Idaho waters without a license. An adult must accompany young participants. Some locations have fishing gear to loan, but participants are encouraged to bring a fishing pole and tackle to enjoy a day of fishing.

Activities are planned for Wilkins Pond near Grangeville, the Deer Creek Reservoir near Pierce, and at Fenn Pond located a few miles up the Selway River near Lowell.

Anglers are reminded that all other regular fishing rules and regulations–including limits, opening dates, and tackle restrictions–remain in effect on Free Fishing Day. Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the Idaho Fish and Game Clearwater Regional Office at 208 799-5010.
