Containment of Billy Creek Fire Increases

Crews working to suppress the Billy Creek Fire burning in the Snake River canyon have increased containment to 44 percent. The fire is now listed at 3,185 acres.

The steep, rugged terrain on the eastern edge of the fire area is the last unsecured portion of the blaze.

Structure protection resources continue to patrol and monitor structures along the Snake River corridor, and crews have been conducting suppression repair activities at higher elevations.

A total of 134 personnel, including 2 dozers, 1 helicopter, 3 hand crews, and 1 jet boat are assigned to the fire. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
