A wildfire burning near Kendrick has forced many to evacuate.
According to a news release from the Idaho Department of Lands, areas on Cedar Ridge, Texas Ridge, Linden, all the way down Highway 3 and across the river have been advised to evacuate and/or have been evacuated. P1 and Texas Ridge is closed. Fifty to sixty structures remain threatened. Evacuations are being handled by the Latah County Sheriff’s office with the assistance of Latah County Emergency Management.
The fire activity had reduced with cooling temperatures last (Mon) night and firefighters were developing plans to safely and aggressively attack the fire. The fire was listed at 0% containment and had grown to 150 acres as of last night.
According to the release, large air tankers were dispatched and were dropping retardant on the fire to prevent spread and a Complex Incident Management Team has been ordered to manage the fire.
As of 10:20 p.m. last (Mon) night, Level 3 Evacuations: which means “GO” Evacuate NOW, leave immediately and do not delay, included: Cedar Ridge from Highway 3 to Linden Rd. Linden Rd. to S Park Rd. Texas Ridge Rd and East Rd. to Sundstrom Rd.
Level 2 Evacuations: which means to “BE SET” to evacuate at a moments notice includes: Texas Ridge and Sundstrom Rd to Highway 3. Cedar Ridge Rd. at Linden Rd. to Three Bear Rd. And all houses west of 1210 Cedar Ridge Rd.
Level 1 Evacuation: means “BE READY” for potential evacuation and includes any houses 2 miles outside of the listed Level 2 evacuation locations.
