The Seattle Mariners have competed a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays to acquire outfielder Randy Arozarena.
The Mariners get the fomer All-Star for minor leaguers Brody Hopkins, a righthanded pitcher, outfieilder Aidan Smith and a player to be named later.
Arozarena is in the midst of a down year statistically – batting just .211 with 15 home runs and 16 stolen bases.
Despite one of the best pitching staffs in Major League Baseball, the Mariners have struggled offensively all season, and are in need of more pop in their lineup in hopes of making a playoff run later this year.
