Lewis-Clark State Cross Country Holds Steady in Top 15 of NAIA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both Lewis-Clark State Cross Country teams held their spots in the top 15 of the NAIA in the latest coaches’ ratings, released on Thursday. The Warrior men maintained the No. 9 spot while the women held tight to No. 15.

 

NO. 9 LC STATE MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

The full LC State men’s team has not competed since the last poll, but moved up to No. 9 in the Oct. 3 edition of the rating based on a strong performance at the Gans Greek Classic in Missouri. The Warriors bested various ranked teams with standout runs by Kobe Wessels, Conner May and Griffen Parsells. Carter Gordon maintains the best 8k time of any Warrior so far this season with a 24:27 at the Cougar Classic to sit at 10th all-time in the LC State record book.

 

Cascade Conference rival College of Idaho moved up to No. 3 in the NAIA and Eastern Oregon stayed No. 10. Corban jumped one spot to No. 22 and Southern Oregon is receiving votes.

 

NO. 15 LC STATE WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

The Warrior women ran a solid race in Salem on Oct. 5 to maintain their spot in the top 15. Grace Tiegs was the top finisher for LC State to help the Warriors best NCAA Division I team Portland State, as well as conference foes Eastern Oregon, Oregon Tech and Bushnell. Freshmen Lily Bennett and Damaris Kibiwot continue to hold a solid presence in the Warriors top five as the rest of the squad continues to improve as well.

 

C of I moved up one spot to No. 5 and Southern Oregon remained No. 9. Eastern Oregon is receiving votes.

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors host the LC State Invitational on Oct. 19 at the LC State Cross Country Trail in the Lewiston Orchards. The women will run their 5k at 9:45 a.m. and the men will run the 8k at 10:45 a.m.
