Democrats have secured or are leading in most statewide races in Washington.

Democrat Attorney General Bob Ferguson appears to be in good shape to become the state’s next governor as he leads former Republican U.S. Representative Dave Reichert 56 percent to 43 percent.

Democrat Denny Heck leads in the race for Lieutenant Governor over Republican Dan Matthews 56 percent to 43 percent.

Incumbent Democrat Secretary of State Steve Hobbs has a comfortable lead over Republican challenger Dale Whitaker 59.5 percent to 40 percent.

In the race for Attorney General, Democrat Nick Brown is leading Republican Pete Serrano 56 percent to 43.6 percent.

Incumbent Democrat Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal is leading Republican challenger David Olson 53.5 percent to 45.9 percent.

The Commissioner of Public Lands race is closer with Democrat Dave Upthegrove is leading former U.S. Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler 52.9 percent to 46.7 percent.

In the race for Washington U.S. Senator, incumbent Democrat Maria Cantwell is on pace to return to Washington D.C. as she leads Republican challenger Raul Garcia 59.7 percent to 40 percent. Meanwhile, the contest to replace long-time Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers for the District 5 U.S. Representative seat is being won by Republican Michael Baumgartner over Carmela Conroy 59.7 percent to 40 percent.

Mail-in ballots will continue to arrive and be tabulated and counties have 21 days to certify results.
