The Lewiston School District’s annual Fill the Bus food drive is now underway.
The food drive involves all seven elementary schools and both middle schools that will be collecting non-perishable items and/or monetary donations for the Community Action Food Bank and the Salvation Army Food Bank. The food drive will run from Monday, November 25 to Thursday, Dec. 19.
At each school site, the event is organized by the student leadership teams with support and guidance from the school staff in promoting, communicating, and collection of donations. Some schools will have fun competitions within the school building or with other schools. All donations will be collected from the schools and delivered to the Salvation Army and Community Action food banks the morning of December 20th.
Donations can be dropped off at any Lewiston School District elementary or middle school.
Officials ask that canned food be delivered in smaller boxes due to weight; plastic bags be tied or in some cases double bagged to prevent items from spilling out; and glass jars are easier to transport if they are packed separately.
