Lewis-Clark State College students and faculty members will present their classroom and independent research projects or performances during the college’s 16th Annual Research Symposium that begins today (Fri). All presentations are free and open to the public, and parking is free.
Presentations will take place on LC State’s Lewiston campus until May 1st, and the Coeur d’Alene Center will have presentations on May 2nd. Additional events are scheduled for May 3rd at both locations and also at the Schweitzer Career & Technical Education Center in Lewiston.
The presentations will consist of discussions, posters, presentations, or performances by LC State undergraduate students. The students are from divisions across campus and participated in research projects associated with their college major or coursework.
Multiple professors have been invited to give presentations during the research symposium. The first speaker, LC State faculty member Collin Fehr, will begin at 11:30 a.m. on April 30 at Williams Conference Center and will be presenting on “Performance O.P.T.I.C.S.: A Formula for Achieving Your Goals.” LC State Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts Megan Goforth will follow Fehr’s presentation with “Healthy Eating Tips for the Busy College Student” at noon. The Keynote speaker will be Washington State University faculty member Sarah Ulrich-French and her session will take place at 10 a.m. on May 1 where she will present on “Embodiment: A Path to Wellness.”
Ulrich-French’s current research explores mindful movement and embodiment, and the role of harnessing positive physical activity experiences in long-term motivation and wellbeing. She has served as program chair and as communication director on the Executive Board for the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity. Ulrich-French is also an associate editor for the APA journal Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology and is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology. Ulrich-French is currently on the Board of Directors for the American Kinesiology Association and serves on the Membership Committee.
