Idaho State Police are investigating the death of an inmate who was found unresponsive and not breathing in his cell at the Lewis County Jail.
Officials are investigating the death as an apparent suicide.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the 55-year-old male inmate arrived at the jail on Friday, and was found unresponsive and not breathing in his cell Tuesday morning. Deputies performed CPR on the man before he was taken to a hospital in Cottonwood where he was pronounced dead.
The inmate’s name is being withheld pending notification of family. (Lewiston Tribune, AP)
